Many people today are looking for inexpensive cell phone service. There are many options. And it is easy to get confused, and frustrated. If you have good enough credit you can get a regular service. And depending on what services you want to use, these can be reasonably priced. However, once again depending on what services you want, and what location you are in, you can possibly save a little money with another service.
If you are careful, you can get inexpensive cell phone service with a pre-paid service. There are some services that are area specific. For example, in the DFW area there is a service called Metro PCS. This service has a set price per month for unlimited minutes, texts, etc. Depending on how much you use these services, it is an excellent price. But it’s biggest downfall is the fact that it has a limited area. If you are outside of that area, these types of services often simply don’t work.
Then there is the more standard pre-paid service.
This also can be a way to have inexpensive cell phone service. But with these you have to look at their various plans. With some, you can be, up and running with as little as , but they tend to charge up to 25 cents a minute, and this adds up quickly. Some will only charge you 10 cents a minute, or even offer free minutes within their network, but may charge you each day you actually use the service. There are others that have options for minute packs that only charge about 10 cents a minute, but require you to add more minutes every month, or every second month. These generally don’t have any option for text messages, or anything of that nature. But, if you only occasionally use your phone, and only for calling, this may be your best option. You can usually get these started for about and keep them going for as little as to a month.
So inexpensive cell phone service may depend alot on where you are, and what you intend to do with your cell phone. But it may be worth it to weigh your options before committing to anything. And for those of us that don’t live in, or near a major city, it would be a good idea to make sure you will have reception at home with whatever service you are considering.
